Vintage Ambiance (VA) is a beloved all-day restaurant on Monton Road, operating for over 8 years now. It has cemented itself as one of the best places for brunch and afternoon tea in the area.
For brunch, definitely try VA’s American pancake stack with maple syrup and streaky bacon. This simple breakfast has the authentic Yankee flavours, even if it’s prepared on UK soil!
The afternoon tea set is also great. Although you can’t order it if you’re solo, the three tiers of desserts available for pairing with the standard pot of tea are well-varied and tasty.

Blossom can be seen as the reincarnation of the old La Turka Bistro on Monton Road. With its bright pink and floral motif, live entertainment, and delicious food, this Turkish restaurant is a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.
You can’t go wrong with the grilled sea bass with baby potatoes from the main à la carte menu. The roast beef and chicken available every Sunday are also great in taste and portion size!
If you’ve only got 90 minutes to eat and are on a budget, the Bottomless Brunch, which includes a sandwich, a salad, and a drink of your choice, is also worth considering.

Get a taste of pasta paradise at Eden Italian Restaurant (pun intended). As its name suggests, the fare here is authentic Italian, featuring pasta, antipasti, pizza, and other filling dishes.
To get the most out of the Eden experience, we highly recommend the Rigatoni Filetto, a savoury pasta dish with rigatoni and slices of fillet steak in a cheesy tomato sauce. It even has a literal “flare” since it’s flambéed in brandy!
For the antipasti, the Arancini Di Costolette is a solid choice. However, a warning—it’s made with rice, so it can fill you up earlier than expected.

Noir steakhouse in Monton recently underwent a well-received renovation since its opening in 2014, and we can’t get enough of the stylish new interiors that complement the great steaks.
The dining experience is exceptional, with Fridays to Sundays being the best time to grab lunch. Noir offers a 90-minute Bottomless Brunch on these days, complete with two courses—a sharing board for starters and a main dish (definitely try the sirloin steak) with unlimited drinks.
If you’re in Monton on a weekday between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, Noir’s Early Bird offerings of two or three courses in a set meal provide the best bang-for-buck steak treat you can have.

Playfoots Café & Bar is a top choice for brunch in Monton. With its quirky yet pleasant interiors, this restaurant refreshes its menu regularly to accommodate seasonal ingredients, much to the delight of its patrons.

6 / Cut is an independent brunch spot and pizzeria owned by the dynamic duo of Caren and Paul. It’s renowned for serving some of the best-tasting sourdough pizzas in this part of Manchester (or Eccles, if we’re being precise).
In addition to the pizzas, 6 / Cut offers a fantastic Brekkie menu available every Sunday morning until 11:45 AM. The Full Monton, a playful nod to the pun and the restaurant’s location, is a must-try for its simple yet delicious take on the classic UK breakfast.
Speaking of pizzas, our current obsession is the garlic mushroom topping, which surprisingly includes some rocket (arugula for the Americans)!

Tom Yam’s Thai fine dining restaurant in Monton is a must-visit, especially if you’re a fan of fresh, spicy, and tangy flavours. It offers a delightful break from the usual European and American fare.
Although the Tom Yam’s space might feel a bit cramped, the food is delicious. The chefs are indeed Thai, so you can be assured of the authenticity of the flavours.
While the pad thai is always a great dish to get for Thai cuisine, the chilli curries (especially the spicy green one) are even better and a must-try to savour the best of what Thailand has to offer.

Homeboys Pizza might just be the most exclusive or elusive pizza restaurant we’ve ever visited, and we’ve already been to many to bring our readers the best of Manchester!
Open only five days a week, with seating slots available for just about an hour and 45 minutes after opening, we were intrigued by how good the pizza really is here. We hope you’ll be, too.
We don’t have a favourite pizza flavour in this shop since everything on the menu is amazing in our books, but we highly recommend trying the habanero honey dip for the pizza or the fries!
| Pro tip: This place is P-O-P-U-L-A-R. Reserving your tables online is the only way to secure those coveted pizza night seats (or you can always call in for takeaway, but where’s the fun in that?). |

Dino’s specializes in European and Mediterranean cuisine and is a veteran in the restaurant business with over 25 years of experience. It’s a great place for a casual lunch or a celebratory dinner, offering a cosy yet classy ambiance.
The starters here are delicious and generously portioned, so you can’t go wrong with any choice. For the main course, we highly recommend the lamb dishes: the smoky skewers and the melt-in-your-mouth lamb shank are both brilliant.
Another standout on Dino’s menu is the liqueur coffee, a unique offering not usually found in other restaurants. These creatively spiked cups of joe provide an altered caffeine experience.
| Pro tip: As of this writing, Dino’s Bar & Kitchen has been under new management for only a few months, but we’ve experienced great service nonetheless! Please be patient if you notice any servers who seem to be in training, as this is likely the case. |

The Blue Bell is a family-friendly pub in Monton Green, renowned for its ales and cocktails. The restaurant also offers great options for hungry diners.
What stands out the most at the Blue Bell is its Sunday Roast.
One standout feature at the Blue Bell is its Sunday Roast. You can choose between roast beef or the chef’s choice roast of the day, but the highlight is the free-flowing gravy and unlimited Yorkshire pudding—something we highly doubt you’ll find elsewhere!
The Blue Bell also offers great daily supper sets of two or three courses at reasonable prices.
