The Drop Bar Cafe is our go-to spot for amazing Caribbean food and a warm, friendly vibe.

First off, the service here is top-notch. The staff are professional and always go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience.

That said, there have been some hiccups with reservations according to some of the patrons we’ve talked to. However, their team’s courteous and helpful attitude more than makes up for it.

Even so, we’re still positive about them because of the extensive Caribbean menu that caters to all tastes. We’re big fans of their drink selection too, they have everything from coffee and teas to smoothies and craft beers.

Furthermore, their food quality is always top-notch, and both regulars and newcomers rave about it. Plus, the portions are generous, so we really got your money’s worth.

Speaking of money, prices range from £5.00 to £25.00 per dish. It’s not the cheapest spot around, but for the quality and service, we think it’s totally worth it.

Pros

  • Well-commended food quality
  • Plenty of parking space available
  • Friendly and attentive staff

Cons

  • Records of reservation issues
  • Long wait times

Would 100% recommend

“Stumbled across this place on our visit to Manchester. The food was deliiiiiiicious, and I’ve never tried Jamaican food so it set the bar very high. We had the Hench drop box with jerk chicken and curry goat, grilled lamb chops, rum punch and the white chocolate and raspberry brownie. Anna was lovely and made sure we were looked after, and gave great recommendations. Would 100% recommend and we will be coming up to Manchester to eat here again!”

A thousand compliments to the chef

“Undoubtedly some of the best Caribbean food I’ve ever had! I can’t vouch for the restaurant as I’ve never eaten in but we order from here a lot and it is just delicious. Portion sizes are really good too! Has that home cooked taste. Honestly, a thousand compliments to the chef”

Casa De Moor has stolen our hearts as one of Chorlton’s gems, serving up classic Mediterranean dishes and gin cocktails that hit the spot.

Their menu is a true crowd-pleaser, offering a variety of options for every palate, including vegetarian and gluten-free choices. We think they nailed it when it comes to accommodating different dietary preferences!

We also love that the food at Casa De Moor consistently impresses with its freshness and flavour. Whether you’re digging into a hearty main or nibbling on a light appetiser, you’re guaranteed a delicious, well-presented meal that won’t disappoint.

And let’s talk about drinks! Their selection of wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages perfectly complements the menu. We’re fans of their stellar gin lineup featuring favourites like Tanqueray and Bombay Sapphire.

The cosy ambience and warm decor make Casa De Moor an inviting spot for a relaxed dining experience. However, popularity can sometimes make the space feel cramped, especially during peak times.

Also, we noted that their service seems slower down during busy hours. Despite these minor hiccups, Casa De Moor remains our top choice for Mediterranean classics in the area.

Pros

  • Large varieties of food to choose from
  • Good value for money
  • Considerate about customer food sensitivities
  • Extensive gin menu

Cons

  • Some reports of slow service
  • Limited seating space
  • Difficult to book during peak hours

What an absolute gem this place is!

“What an absolute gem this place is!

I know the one in Heaton Moor is more popular as this one opened more recently but it absolutely deserves the same hype!

The staff are very friendly and positive and go the extra mile to make you feel welcomed and comfortable.

The menu has a lovely selection and variety, there are breakfast, lunch and dinner options and lots of options for vegetarian diets.

After two recent visits I can say that the food is always very fresh, the flavours are well balanced and a true representation of the Mediterranean food!

I would certainly recommend this place for any time of the day, and it’s certainly become my go to for a breakfast/lunch as I feel it’s hard to find a place that serves breakfast/lunch which isn’t just eggs or butties but instead it’s a very fresh, healthy and nutritious breakfast with lovely atmosphere and service.

Really looking forward to coming for dinner to try out more of the menu!”

“One of my go to places…Food & ambiance is always amazing… service is excellent.. Tekin provides 5star service and very knowledgable. Would recommend

We had the mixed grill and sizzling steak with cocktails and spent just over £100 and it was definitely worth it.

There is also another branch in Stockport”

The Jane Eyre is our go-to spot for a cosy Sunday roast in Chorlton. The first thing that we love about them is that they offer a carefully curated menu that emphasises quality over quantity.

On top of this, their dishes are highly raved by both our colleagues and some of the regulars that we’ve spoken with.

While some dishes and drinks may be on the pricier side, we think that the top-notch food, relaxed atmosphere, and attentive service make it worth every penny.

Furthermore, the place itself is snug and well-kept, adding to its warm and inviting atmosphere.

Just a heads-up: it can get pretty busy, so booking ahead is smart, especially for large groups or those who have specific seating needs.

And here’s a bonus—they’re pet-friendly! This makes them a hit for those who like to dine with their furry pals.

For a spot that checks all the boxes—great food, a relaxed vibe, and a pet-friendly policy—The Jane Eyre is a solid choice.

Pros

  • Highly-praised food quality
  • Peaceful ambience
  • Friendly service
  • Pet friendly

Cons

  • Limited seating space
  • Records of slow service

Fantastic array of small plates

“Fantastic array of small plates and a very decent selection on the drinks menu. We had the steak, which was really well cooked and seasoned, and some other veggie dishes which were varied and interesting. The nduja carrots were awesome. And they let us bring our furry fluff ball of a dog.”

Mary & Archie is a warm, friendly, and independent bar/restaurant in Chorlton, known for its flavorful wraps, burgers, and Sunday roasts.

Right off the bat, we love that the atmosphere at Mary & Archie is one of its standout features. The charming and stylish decor creates a cosy and inviting vibe. In our opinion, this enhanced our overall dining experience.

On top of this, their menu is a great mix of classic favourites and innovative dishes, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Plus, they offer daily brunch menus, which is a big plus in our books.

Furthermore, we also liked that the bar staff are knowledgeable and can recommend drinks that pair perfectly with any meal.

On the downside, the prices are a bit steep. Their no-cash policy caught us by surprise, which was a tad bit inconvenient in our opinion.

That said, we still think Mary & Archie is a fantastic choice. Just remember to bring a card and place orders in person to enjoy everything they have to offer.

Pros

  • Great quality food
  • Friendly staff
  • Aesthetically pleasing

Cons

  • Doesn’t accept cash
  • Doesn’t take online orders

Great bar with good selection of beers

“Great bar with good selection of beers and the food is great and good choice. They are back doing Sunday roasts and they are superb had the roast beef, cooked to perfection. Side of cauliflower cheese was amazing, it’s not the cheapest but it’s worth the money.”

This was our favourite spot when we lived in Chorlton 2 years ago and we’ve been waiting to get back there ever since we moved overseas. The breakfast didn’t disappoint!”

Benito Lounge is the go-to spot for delicious, affordable food and drinks, offering big portions and a pet-friendly vibe.

Their menu has something for everyone, which we absolutely love. From hearty meat dishes to tasty vegetarian and vegan options, the portions are huge, so patrons definitely get their money’s worth.

Plus, their menu includes vegan, gluten-free, and kid-friendly options, with allergen information available on their website.

Coupled with a top-notch drink selection that perfectly complements the food, this definitely added to the highlights of our visit. Just a heads-up, though: bar service can be a bit slow during busy times, which we experienced when we visited on a weekend.

The atmosphere at Benito Lounge is super inviting, thanks to their comfy seating and charming decor. Their pet-friendly policy is another plus, though cleanliness can sometimes be an issue. Still, we think it adds to their overall charm.

Even so, we still think that Benito Lounge is perfect for both small and large groups looking for restaurants in Chorlton.

Pros

  • Good value for money on food & drinks
  • Large portion serving
  • Offers vegetarian and vegan choices
  • Pet friendly

Cons

  • Inconsistent service levels
  • Long wait times
  • Issues with the overall cleanliness of the establishment

Food is good value and tasty

“I was ready to dismiss this as a chain place but it’s actually pretty great! Food is good value and tasty and the staff are lovely. They did their best to accommodate a group of us when we turned up without a reservation with 4 prams I’d certainly recommend to anyone with kids or dogs or if you’re wanting a quick catch up with someone.”

Beki Meson, Google Review

Really impressed by the quality of food

“My boyfriend has recently moved to Chorlton so we have been to Benito Lounge a couple of times, once for dinner and once for brunch. Both times we were really impressed by the quality of food for the price and the service was really quick. It has a really good vibe and friendly staff. I think this will be a regular place for us.”
