LaCueva at the Old Rectory Gardens is a unique dining experience that will satisfy both your hunger and your soul. Enjoy delicious Spanish tapas in this restaurant’s stunning Himalayan salt cave interior (yes, that’s why it’s called “the cave”)!
The novelty of dining in an actual salt cave is just the beginning, since the real stars at LaCueva are the authentic tapas. Meat lovers will delight in dishes like Pollo Alla Crema (Creamy Chicken) and Pinchos de Cordero (Grilled Lamb Cubes), which are savoury and good.
For the best value, try the paella. Whether you choose chicken, lamb, or vegetable, it’s a full meal you’ll definitely enjoy.

Head to Yara’s Cheadle branch to savour the flavours of Lebanon and Syria in the heart of Britain. This casual dine-in restaurant is known for serving some of the best hummus and falafels in the area!
For first-timers, try Yara’s tender lamb chops, served with onions and the house’s signature shami rice (cooked rice flavoured with meat and spices) that perfectly complements the meat. And of course, the classic kebab is a must-try, cooked to perfection.
The drinks are equally impressive, with authentic Middle Eastern arak and beers available (although not that many) to pair with your meal.
Pro tip: Yara offers delivery services! Visit its website to order and enjoy delicious Middle Eastern meals from the comfort of your home. |

Treat yourself to a modern Turkish dining experience at the Turkish Bistro. This chain restaurant’s High Street branch opens doors to tasting great lamb and chicken dishes.
Some must-try rice meals here include the Turquoise Special, which heavily features tender slices of oregano-spiced lamb, and the Mix Sis which, in our opinion, serves the best of all grilled stuff the Turkish Bistro has to offer.
For something simple, the Doner, served with rice and a side salad, is another splendid option.
Lastly, the bistro offers a variety of cakes for dessert. These rotate frequently, so you’ll have the chance to find your favourite one!
Pro tip: You can usually just walk in, but if you’ll be dining as a group of 15 or more, definitely give the Turkish Bistro a call. This will give the restaurant enough wiggle room in preparation for your visit. |

Indian food might already be a mainstay in the British dining scene, but Vedaa in Cheadle shows that there’s still room for innovation. Prepare for an elevated dining experience at this restaurant, though we do wish it had a bit more floor space.
The Paneer Makhani, a house curry made with cottage cheese, tomato, and butter, is a crowd favourite and a must-try. Also, don’t overlook the aptly named Chicken Ruby, with its rich sauce that pairs perfectly with rice or naan.
Last but not the least, don’t miss the chef’s speciality lamb shank—it’s a dish you won’t want to pass up.
Pro tip: Book a table in advance, especially if you’re planning to go to Vedaa on a Tuesday night. The restaurant easily gets a full house since it’s when the four-course Curry Night meals are served. |

We’re back to the Middle Eastern cuisine, specifically that of Lebanon’s, with Janan. We’re not really sure why it’s BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze) here—maybe its alcohol licence application is stuck in bureaucratic limbo, but I guess it’s now too late for us to ask.
Nonetheless, the homemade goodness of the food more than makes up for it, attracting diners who keep coming back.
So, get the hummus and babaghanoush for starters. Then add a serving (or two for the family) of the Chef’s Mix of tasty grilled lamb kofta, chicken, and lamb kebabs.
Aside from the food, Janan’s metal lamps, colourful walls, and elegant drinking goblets take the Lebanese experience home.
Pro tip: Since alcohol isn’t sold at Janan, bring your favourite bottle from home or buy a new one at the nearby Tesco, just around the corner on Wilmslow Road. |

The three Indian restaurateurs who created Hitchki in the middle of the pandemic might’ve faced significant challenges then, but today, Hitchki has bounced back as a thriving enterprise known for its creative take on Mumbai street food.
Try the famous pani puri—round wafer balls filled with potatoes and drenched in Hitchki’s unique spiced mint and tamarind sauce, garnished with shredded veggies. Mint water seems to be a thing of the past here.
Tandooris and curries, featuring lamb and seafood, are staples on the menu. Additionally, the inclusion of Indo-Chinese fusion items is a delightful surprise.
Pro tip: Hitchki’s menu features several dairy-based dishes, as is common in Indian cuisine. Thankfully, the menu clearly labels which dishes contain dairy. |

To explore a broader range of Indian street food, visit the Indian Tiffin Room in Cheadle. Besides its main branch there, it also has locations in Leeds, Liverpool, and Manchester.
We agree with the restaurant’s recommendation to begin one’s meal with a couple of starters, but be careful not to overindulge in these delicious small plates, or you might not have room for your main course! The home-style samosas and the veggie-leaning dahi puri surely got us.
If you can resist the tempting starters, the “tiffins” or light all-day meals are a must-try. The masala dosa varieties here are brilliant.
Pro tip: The Indian Tiffin Room boasts its own brewery! Enjoy a bottle of its signature beers with your meal and experience the unique Tiffin Room flavour. |
