Pros

  • Accessible location
  • Attentive barbers
  • Wide range of services
  • Friendly staff members

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Confusing operating hours
  • Expensive services

RPB boasts two branches in Manchester, but for this review, we will focus on their branch at Tib Street. This branch is the more popular one and we believe that it’s because of their accessible location at the city centre.

Just keep in mind that they are closed on Sundays, which can be a drawback for those with busy schedules. We’re also a bit iffy that their operating hours are a bit confusing since they vary from day to day.

So, we believe that it would be best to call in advance before heading to the place or better yet, set an appointment. All you need to do is call their front desk, who’s pretty responsive, from our experience.

We appreciate that RPB has attentive barbers who spend the time to truly understand the type of haircut their customers want. With this personalised approach, we were satisfied with our new look every time we visited.

It’s also impressive that they also offer a wide range of services. They even provide hair extensions, a rare service among barbers in the area—setting them apart from the competition.

Lastly, a haircut here starts at £32, but the price can rise depending on the barber you choose.

While this might seem steep, we believe that the cost is justified when you consider the staff members who are professional and friendly. From the moment we walked through their doors, we felt like VIPs!

Pros

  • Friendly staff members
  • Meticulous barbers
  • Accessible location
  • Affordable services
  • Barber lessons

Cons

  • Limited operating days

Notjust was voted one of the Top 10 Barbers in the UK by The Guardian—and we totally agree with their decision!

At Notjust, we appreciate the staff members are not only friendly, but also competent. Each of our visits here was a pleasant experience.

For instance, the barbers here make time to understand what you’re after from the trim, are meticulous in their work, and make sure you leave with exactly what you wanted.

Additionally, we like that they’re conveniently located at just a ten-minute walk or under a five-minute drive from Manchester Piccadilly train station.

Despite this accessibility, we believe that it’s worth noting that they are only open four days a week which limits scheduling options.

On the brighter side, their services are affordable. But what earned them plus points from us is they even offer a free consultation for those unsure about the haircut they want.

We also give them a big thumbs up for having a package of £48 for a haircut and beard trim. This is an absolute steal when compared to the rates of other barbers in the area.

Finally, for those interested in the trade, they also offer barber lessons which provides a great starting point for a career in barbering. Overall, we’re happy that they offer something truly valuable, whether you’re a customer or a budding barber.

Pros

  • Affordable services
  • Accessible location
  • Commendable staff members

Cons

  • Long waiting list
  • Limited operating days

If you want to get a truly affordable haircut, going to The London School of Barbering is a solid decision. Here, you can get a haircut from beginners under the supervision of top teachers in the industry.

We like that they offer three tiers of appointments: guaranteed for £7, walk-in for £5, and standby, which is free but only available if someone with a guaranteed appointment doesn’t show up.

Additionally, booking an appointment is straightforward through their website. We appreciate the easy-to-navigate format, where you can see all the booked and free slots; once you’ve chosen a slot, select your service, and you’re all set.

Just keep in mind that they are not for those in a hurry. One downside that we noted in particular is that there is a two to three-week wait due to their long list of clients.

Additionally, we’re a bit iffy that they are only open during weekdays which is more limiting compared to other barbers. And while securing a slot can be difficult, we think that the hassle is worth it.

For instance, they are conveniently located a few steps away from Mosley Street, making them easy to find and accessible for anyone in the area.

The staff members are also commendable. We appreciate that the trainee barber takes the time to discuss your desired style while the supervisor ensures everything goes smoothly.

Pros

  • Free drinks
  • Dog-friendly
  • Open everyday day with long operating hours
  • Affordable services

Cons

  • Far from public transportation stop

The Jersey Street Social Club is the place to be for those who want to have fun while getting a haircut. We find ourselves coming back to this lively barbershop for their free drinks and friendly banter.

Additionally, they’re also dog-friendly! For us, this aspect sets them apart from other barbershops in the area—making them perfect for fur parents!

We also appreciate that they’re open every day. Along with this, we noted that they have one of the longest operating hours in the area.

Furthermore, ample parking spots in the vicinity are great for those driving. However, we think that they’re a bit challenging to reach by public transportation since they are a 12-minute walk from the nearest stop at Shudehill Interchange.

Despite this, we think they’re still worth the visit, especially when you consider their team’s expertise.

For example, we like how the barber took the time to understand exactly what style we wanted. He even offered suggestions to improve the cut that we wanted for a more dapper look.

Finally, we like that they are affordable with services starting at only £20. All barbers also have the same rate, unlike other shops that have tiered pricing depending on the expertise of the barber.

Pros

  • Serves beverages
  • Accessible location
  • Premium services
  • Accommodating staff members

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Expensive services

Mr Beardmores Barbershop stood out to us as they not only offer haircuts but also serve fresh barista-style coffee and cold beverages.

On top of this, we appreciate that they’re located in the city centre. They’re easy to access as they’re just a five-minute walk from Piccadilly Gardens.

Additionally, we like that they open early, making them accessible for those who need a haircut before starting their day. We were just a bit iffy that they are closed on Sundays which can be inconvenient for some.

Also, we must mention that their haircuts are on the expensive side at £34. Nevertheless, we believe that they’re still worth the visit thanks to their full range of services that go beyond just cutting hair because they truly pamper their customers.

It’s notable that Mr Beardmores Barbershop also offers shampoo, conditioning, massaging, and more during their sessions.

We were impressed by the personalised service. For instance, one of our team members hasn’t been here in months but the barber remembered his preferred style!

Finally, it was great the staff members are polite and professional, constantly checking on us if we need help with anything. Overall, we’ve always felt refreshed after our visits to this salon!
